Minnesota is home to several professional and semi-professional sports teams, which makes for a quick win when looking for something to do on the weekends. Whether you love baseball, football, or soccer, Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the surrounding suburbs offer something for everyone.
Below is a list of Team Kathy Borys’ favorite teams to cheer on in Minnesota:
Minnesota Twins
The Minnesota Twins is our professional baseball team. Their home stadium is Target Field, located in Minneapolis, MN. The MN Twins are not only fun to watch, but the stadium is well known for its variety of food options from local restaurants, giving you plenty of options to eat. However, if you prefer the traditional hotdog and peanuts, you’ll be sure to find those as well at the stadium!
Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings is our professional football team. Their home stadium is the U.S. Bank stadium located in downtown Minneapolis. Going to a Vikings game is an experience in itself, often with live music concerts playing outside of the stadium before the game, plenty of tailgating, and fun activities for kids and adults to enjoy. Be sure to get to the game early to join in on all the pre-gaming festivities!
Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves is our local professional Basketball team. Their home stadium is at Target Center located in Downtown Minneapolis. Timberwolves games are family-friendly events filled with fun half-time shows and entertainment throughout the game to keep everyone engaged. They often have special game nights with free giveaways to a specific amount of attendees that arrive first, so be sure to get there early!
Minnesota United FC
Minnesota United is our newest professional soccer team! Their home stadium is Allianz Field, located just outside of downtown St. Paul. It’s also common for there to be a special theme night with events and activities prior to the game, so get there early! Allianz Field also had a wide variety of food to choose from, as well as plenty of shopping to pick up some of your favorite MN United gear!
Minnesota Wild
The Minnesota Wild is our local professional hockey team. Their home stadium is located at the Xcel Energy Center, located in the heart of Downtown St. Paul. With plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the stadium, you’ll be able to make an entire day of going to the game!
Minnesota Lynx
The Minnesota Lynx is our local professional women’s basketball team. Their home stadium is Target Stadium. The MN Lynx is a family-friendly event filled with entertainment throughout the game.
Minnesota Aurora FC
The Minnesota Aurora is the Twin Cities’ new women’s soccer team. The team is considered a Pre-Professional team, playing in the USL W League. Their home field is located at the Vikings Practice Center at TCO Stadium, located in Eagan, MN, just 15 minutes south of Downtown St. Paul. Because the team is a community-owned club, the passion and energy from the crowd is something to note when at a game!
St. Paul Saints
The St. Paul Saints is the Twin Cities’ local Minor League Baseball team. Their home stadium is located in downtown St. Paul at the CHS Stadium, in a neighborhood called Lowertown. Saints games are known for their constant entertainment throughout the game; whether it’s a race around the bases in between innings, or watching their adorable pig mascot get fed by the umpire, you’ll be entertained the entire time while at the game. Saints games are very family-friendly, and the stadium even has a play area for smaller kids as well as activities for older kids to keep the whole family happy while at the game!
Minnesota Wind Chill
The Minnesota Wind Chill is the Twin Cities’ professional Ultimate [Frisbee] Team. Wind Chill games are located at Concordia College’s Sea Foam Stadium, and is a family-friendly and budget-friendly professional team. Their season takes place from May to Mid-August, making it a great game to go see in the summer!
